His Story: On Monday, July 27, 1981, Adam Walsh and his mother, Reve, went to the Hollywood Mall. In the Sears store, Adam was getting restless, so his mom let him stay with some older boys in the gaming area. His mother said she would call him to the service desk when she was ready. Reve and Adam were never reunited. According to Sears, the boys and Adam broke out into a fight. A Sears employee led Adam out of the store. It is believed he was abducted from there. Adam's severed head was found in a Vero Beach, Florida canal on August 10, 1981; the rest of his remains have never been recovered. How he helped others: After his death, Adam's father, John, started the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children, which shows all missing children until they are found. Because of this he was chosen to be the host of America's Most Wanted in 1988. Now in 2009, his show has captured over 1,000 fugitives and has helped find 60 missing children and missing persons. Responsible For Adam's Death: There were many leads and a main suspect, Ottis Tootle, even confessed to the murder. Then he denied it. Then he confessed. Then he admitted. This went on and on until his death in 1996. However, in December of 2008, Ottis' niece's confessed her uncle had told her that he had killed Adam. She had said this before, but was never believed. Now she was believed. Picture of Adam:
